Notice of Election - Ballot Measure
The election will be for Councilmembers representing District 4 and 5 and a Ballot Measure entitled "An Initiative to Repeal and Replace the City's Existing Short Term Rental Ordinance". The City Council adopted Resolution 24-06-18-07(PDF, 427KB) calling for the election and will be consolidated with the Statewide General Election per Resolution 24-06-18-08.(PDF, 402KB)
The nomination period begins on Monday, July 15, 2024, and closes on August 9, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. Candidates for Districts 4 and 5 must be registered to vote in their district at the time nomination papers are issued. Candidates are encouraged to make an appointment to meet with the City Clerk to review and pull nomination papers.
Candidates must file all nomination paperwork and fees with the City Clerk no later than 4:30 p.m. on August 9, 2024.
*If an eligible incumbent for any seat does not file nomination papers by the deadline, the nomination period for that seat will be extended to August 14, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.

Election Day
All Orange County registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. Voters can return their ballots by mail, by depositing them in any ballot drop box in Orange County, or by voting or returning their ballot to any Vote Center in Orange County. Please be aware that mailed ballots must be postmarked by November 5, 2024. Ballot drop boxes will close on November 5, 2024 (election day) at 8:00 p.m. and persons must arrive at Vote Centers on November 5, 2024 (election day) before 8:00 p.m. to cast their ballots.
