Art in Public Places

The City of Dana Point has an Art in Public Places program to incorporate art with new developments. Since 1994, the Art in Public Places program has been in effect to enhance the cultural and aesthetic environment of Dana Point, and to encourage creativity, education, and an appreciation of the arts and our cultural heritage.

Recognizing the need to tailor the City’s existing Art in Public Places program for public arts to the Town Center area, the Town Center Plan includes public art as an important component in the revitalization into a thriving, pedestrian friendly downtown. Public art features will be incorporated in new construction and streetscape design as much as possible, and artwork and landscaping are planned to create gateways at the Blue Lantern and Copper Lantern entry points.
