Dana Point Police Services Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide responsive, professional, and caring law enforcement services to all people in the City of Dana Point. We will respond to calls for service promptly, protect lives and property to the best of our abilities, initiate and maintain crime prevention programs, and practice community based policing. We will aggressively apprehend criminal offenders.
All officers and assigned staff are expected to behave in a friendly, helpful and effective manner as appropriately determined by the circumstances and nature of the duties they may be called upon to exercise.
Neighborhood Watch
An interactive program between Law Enforcement and residents designed to teach crime prevention and victim awareness. Emergency Preparedness is an essential component as well.
Community Service Unit
The focus of the Community Service Unit (CSU) is to solve problems unique to our town and provide the highest quality of police service to the citizens, businesses and visitors to the beautiful City of Dana Point. Our goals are to provide you with responsive, caring, professional law enforcement services, in addition to maintaining a safe environment for individuals that live, work, and play in our lovely city. Volunteer Opportunities
Orange County Sheriff Explorer Post #449 is a group of volunteers between the ages of 14 to 20 years interested in Law Enforcement. They assist with diverse situations including traffic control, search and rescue, and special security assignments. Interested youth can contact Dana Point Police Services at (949) 248-3531
Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) program is the volunteer component of Dana Point Police Services. The City has 22 members in the program, who perform valuable tasks that save the City a substantial amount of money: approximately $103,000 was saved last year using volunteers.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
In an emergency, response resources will be stretched thin. CERT is a nationally-recognized, positive, and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens may initially be on their and their actions can make a difference.

Vacation Home Check
A service, provided free of charge, which involves a physical check of your residence to ensure no windows or doors have opened or tampered with. This service is performed by Dana Point Police Services' Volunteers in Police Services.
Security Inspections
A service, provided free of charge, to assist Residents and Businesses in identifying areas vulnerable to intrusion and an easy target for criminals. A walk-through, on-site inspection is performed with you and a written evaluation is provided for you as a reference.
Guest Speakers
Experienced police personnel are available for presentations on crime-related topics including personal safety, burglary, shoplifting, robbery, fraud, employee theft, Neighborhood Watch, gangs, and work-place violence.
